975 On Call on Friday 13th: Unlucky for Some?

Abstract Introduction Despite the practice of evidence-based medicine, superstitions remain common amongst healthcare workers around world. Friday 13th is a day that can cause anxiety many surgeons on-call. Our aim was to determine whether there significant difference between working an on-call as surgeon on compared preceding at large teaching hospital. Method We conducted retrospective, longitudinal cohort study analysed admissions and operative data for all emergency general surgical urology patients hospital over five-year period. The main outcome measures assessed included number admissions, operations urological operations. Results There no statistically (412 vs 405, p=0.835), (63 49, p=0.069), (2 4, p=0.449) 6th. Conclusions will inevitably be unlucky some, but this shows being just any other Friday.
